A Disappointing Experience After Purchasing a Template Website Builder

July 9, 2026 0 views
Manager Wang works in a related industry and is a newly graduated designer. He often builds static websites for clients using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. However, his client base kept growing, and every client required unique custom content, leaving him overwhelmed.
Later, a friend recommended a template website builder, claiming it could help users create all types of websites quickly and effortlessly, with no professional technical skills required. It sounded perfect!
He decided to spend 2,000 yuan purchasing the system.
Once he started using it, he realized the system was nothing like what had been advertised. While it offered hundreds of different templates, every template was extremely basic with very limited adjustable settings. He could only tweak fundamental elements such as fonts, colors and images.
On top of that, the platform was complicated to operate. He had to learn an entirely new system to figure out how to add pages, links, navigation menus and other components. Even with official tutorials and documentation, the process remained confusing and time-consuming.
In the end, it took him weeks to finish a simple website. The finished site looked generic and uninspired, no better than the work he produced on his own. He was utterly disappointed, feeling he had wasted both his money and valuable time.
He later came to understand that buying a template website builder was not the optimal solution to his workload issues. In today’s web design landscape, clients demand extensive personalization and custom functionality, which simple templates cannot deliver. Instead, he needs to learn advanced programming languages and tools to build fully bespoke websites from scratch.
